On each Real LIFE application, you are offered three formats to engage kids in discussing the E-LIFE Plan: “Ice Breakers,” “Role Plays,” or “Get Real” real-life story applications with group discussions.
Ice Breakers
Provide a format to help E-LIFE Kids learn more about how to talk with other schoolmates.
By “practicing” how to have a conversation with another child about Jesus, showing kindness, showing friendship,
etc., children will feel more comfortable in real-life situations at school.
Role Play Scenarios
Select two children to role play as the characters of Eli and Ezri. (Role playing by using character
names is optional but may help the kids be more at ease.) Their task is to role play how they would interact
with other children in their school or community based on the scenario given below.
Get Real
These are true-to-life stories. Some of the stories are true, while others represent true-to-life scenarios.
The names of the children have been changed to protect their identities. Group discussions follow each “Get
Real” story. Involve the children either in a large group discussion or have breakouts into smaller groups. If group
discussions involve breakouts, select a spokesperson from each group to share what the group has resolved. List
the answers on a dry-erase board or a large post-it sheet. Review the discussion outcomes from time to time.
Visit our videos page for E-LIFE Video Clips, which can be used to introduce E-LIFE
or to play during the E-LIFE activity.
